The Mandan Braves hockey program is mourning one of its own after a devastating loss that has sent shockwaves through the entire North Dakota hockey community.

Ben Moch, just 17 years old and a junior at Mandan High School, passed away from injuries he sustained in a car accident earlier this month. He wore number 11 for the Braves.

Moch was a player on the rise. During his sophomore season, he tallied 19 points and had already begun attracting attention at NAHL camps, chasing the dream of continuing his hockey career beyond high school. By all accounts, he was well on his way.

The news of his passing has left a void that extends far beyond the Mandan locker room. According to a tribute posted by Hockey Patrol, the loss has profoundly shaken the broader North Dakota hockey world.

What has followed, though, speaks to the tight-knit nature of the hockey community in the region. Even rival players and their families have come together to support Ben's loved ones during an unimaginably difficult time.

A "Mandan Strong" shirt campaign was launched to raise funds for the families affected by the crash, and the response has been remarkable. More than 2,700 shirts have been sold, a powerful show of solidarity from across the state's hockey landscape.

The outpouring of grief and support on social media has been immediate and heartfelt. Comments from fans and fellow hockey enthusiasts have flooded in, with many offering prayers and condolences to the Moch family and the Mandan community.

It is a painful reminder of how fragile life can be and how quickly a promising future can be taken away. Moch had the talent, work ethic, and ambition to chase bigger stages in the sport he loved.

As the Mandan hockey community leans on one another while processing an unthinkable tragedy, we at Hockey Feed send our deepest condolences. Ben Moch will be remembered not just for the points he put on the board, but for the impact he had on everyone around him.
