Buffalo Sabres defenseman Rasmus Ristolainen has reportedly been busted for speeding in his native Finland and just wait until you see what kind of fine he’s facing.
First, the official report from Finnish-language publisher Ilta-Sanomat Urheila:
The damage? 120,000 Euros… the equivalent of $135,000 USD or $175,000 CAD. Ouch. Ouch. OUCH.
Finland famously links fines to a citizen’s salary, so in a roundabout way Ristolainen can thank the Buffalo Sabres for his fine. The 24 year old blue liner currently earns $5.4 million annually on his six year, $32.4 million deal, so it’s safe to say that the fine shouldn’t hurt him too, too much.
Having said that, his fine is still the highest of any Finnish NHLer. Check it out:
Easy, boys! Slow down!
