Forward Robert Thomas cashes in big in St. Louis. According to insider Frank Seravalli, the 23-year-old restricted free agent is set to sign a max-term contract at eight years and $65 million.
This is a lot of money for the 23-year-old, but the Blues get to around a strong future around him.
Thomas gets rewarded for breaking out as a scoring-line NHL center in St. Louis this past season.
He is set to spend a huge chunk of his career with the Blues, who selected him 20th overall in 2017. Thomas now gets to become a pillar of top-six forward group for years to come in St. Louis.
Despite battling injuries, Thomas has put up 87 points in 169 games, and tallied a career-best 20 goals and 77 points in 72 games this past season. He won the Stanley as a rookie with the Blues back in 2019.
It surely supports the lucrative pay day he gets now!
The Blues will now turn their focus on re-signing another young star RFA forward, right winger Jordan Kyrou along defenseman Scott Perunovich, among others in this busy part of the season.
