Robert Thomas throws his mom and teammates under the bus in post game interview.

A little self deprecating humor from Thomas.

Being a professional hockey player at the National Hockey League level is a pretty glamorous job. You can get plenty of fan recognition and a high paying salary to go right along with it, but at the end of the day you remain a human being just like the rest of us. Human beings at the end of the day are social animals that need positive reinforcement from those closest to them and on Friday night St. Louis Blues forward Robert Thomas hinted at the fact that he hasn't been getting a great deal of that in his life as of late.

The 22 year old forward was interviewed on Friday night following a thrilling win for him and the Blues over the Minnesota Wild. The game ended by a score of 4 - 3 in overtime and very much had a playoff atmosphere to it, and when he was asked about his feelings on the game Thomas gave something of a curious answer. The young NHL forward took the opportunity to throw both his mom and his teammates under the bus, albeit for entirely different reasons.

In the case of Momma Thomas, Robert called her out for suggesting that he wasn't very good at doing these types of post game interviews. I hate to agree with Momma Thomas here but Thomas didn't exactly deliver the most charismatic post game interview performance I've seen this time around either.

In the case of his teammates Thomas appeared to indicate that he felt slighted at the fact that they didn't seem to think he could fire off the puck the way he did in this particular game, no doubt eluding to his game winning goal in overtime.

"I don't know what's worse... the boys being so surprised that I can shoot the puck like that or my mom saying I suck at these interviews," said Thomas with half a smile.

The line was delivered awkwardly and seemingly came out of nowhere, perhaps as a result of the taunts from Momma Thomas, and I doubt it is going to change her opinion on the matter. You can hear it yourself in the short clip below:
