We are through 2 games in the Stanley Cup Final between the Florida Panthers and Edmonton Oilers and fans could not have asked for a more exciting start to this series after two relatively high scoring games, both of which needed double overtime before a winner could be determined.

It was of course trade deadline acquisition Brad Marchand who proved to be the overtime hero on Friday night when his breakaway goal tied up the series at 1-1, a player that has brought out a lot of different emotions in hockey fans over the years. It isn't just fans however that have mixed emotions about Marchand, a player who has been nicknamed 'The Rat' by both fans and haters alike, because players as well have had something of a love/hate relationship with Marchand over many years.

There is perhaps no individual who embodies that duality more than Florida Panthers executive Roberto Luongo. Luongo, who currently serves as a special assistant to Panthers general manager Bill Zito, of course despised Marchand during the time in which both men were playing in the National Hockey League, a hatred that peaked during the 2011 Stanley Cup Final.

Marchand and the Boston Bruins would rob Luongo and his fellow Vancouver Canucks of a chance to hoist the Stanley Cup that year when the Bruins defeated the Canucks in 7 games. Marchand himself was a big factor in that series which included a pair of goals in that final and deciding Game 7, a pair of goals that no doubt haunt Luongo to this day.

That's why Luongo's reaction to Marchand's overtime winner in Game 2 on Friday night has gone viral, with Luongo, entirely unprompted, taking to social media to let the world know how he really feels about Marchand now that they are on the same team.

"Favorite player of all time," wrote Luongo showing off his terrific sense of humor.
