Rod Brind'Amour sounds off after a low blow in Game 2.
The Carolina Hurricanes picked up a hugely important win at home in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Final when they defeated the Montreal Canadiens after suffering their first loss of the playoffs to tie the series back up at 1-1.
Following the game Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind'Amour was very positive during his post-game press conference praising the work his team had done on the ice and especially praising the play of Nikolaj Ehlers following his game winning goal in overtime. That positive tone would change however when Brind'Amour was asked the last question of his media availability, a question about an incident that occurred at the end of a period.
Brind'Amour was asked if he had received any explanation from the officials on why Canadiens forward Alex Texier hadn't been called for spearing K'Andre Miller, given that the evidence was crystal clear.
"The hit? Or the spear?" said Brind'Amour obviously unhappy with the call on the ice. "They didn't say a word to us, they didn't come over, they stayed their distance."
Brind'Amour is stating flatly that there is no explanation the officials could have offered and the comments that followed left no doubt about that.
"Clearly that's a spear," said Brind'Amour. "There's not a person that could tell you that it wasn't. Problem is now there is cameras everywhere. It used to happen a lot more back in the day when nobody saw this stuff.... that's a spear. And no I didn't not get an explanation."
You can see the replay for yourself just below, and as you can see it leaves very little doubt as to what happened between Texier and Miller.
