Rookie Logan Cooley claims goal of the year already?

The first round pick in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft stunned onlookers on Saturday.

Arizona Coyotes rookie sensation Logan Cooley may have already scored the best goal we will see all season, and the National Hockey League regular season hasn't even officially begun yet.

In the early hours of Saturday morning, Cooley and the Arizona Coyotes faced off against the Los Angeles Kings in a preseason game held in Australia. It was a unique environment for many of the players, and a unique environment for the NHL which was traveling to Australia for the first time, but that seemed to have no effect on the first round (3rd overall) pick at the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.

Cooley scored what I can only describe as a ridiculous goal during the game's second period, one in which he made the Kings' defenders look more than a little silly.

Cooley danced around the opposition with a beautiful spin move to create space and finished off his spin by putting himself in perfect position to fire off a shot. Cooley made no mistake on the play and buried it in the back of the net, bringing the over 13,000 Australian fans in attendance to their feet.

The Coyotes fan base hasn't had a great many things to cheer for in recent years but, if this is any indication of what is to come, young Logan Cooley may be about to change that.

Here was the live reaction to the goal:
