Rory McIlroy predicts Leafs Stanley Cup win, proceeds to blow up and miss the cut at the Canadian Open

Just like every other Toronto Maple Leafs fan on Earth, Rory McIlroy learned that putting faith in the Leafs will only lead to heartbreak.

The PGA star and 2025 Masters champion predicted earlier this season that the Leafs would win the Stanley Cup and bring a championship back to the city of Toronto. He then proceeded to completely blow it at the Canadian Open in TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley, missing the cut line by 10 strokes.

"If I can win the Masters, then the Leafs can win the Stanley Cup," McIlroy said last month when he was presented with a Leafs jersey from team president Keith Pelley.

McIlroy then promptly golfed the worst 36 holes of his PGA career.

Coincidence? Maybe.

Hilarious? Oh, definitely.
