Ross Johnston vs Wayne Simmonds ends with 1 punch.
A sprint not a marathon.
This one did not go the distance.
On Sunday night the Toronto Maple Leafs took on the New York Islanders and things turned physical between the two teams fairly quickly. It was New York Islanders enforcer Ross Johnston that made his presence known early on when a hit he delivered to veteran Maple Leafs defenseman Mark Giordano drew the ire of the Leafs. It wasn't long though before the Leafs would respond, and they would respond by sending veteran forward Wayne Simmonds out on the ice to confront Johnston the next time he took a shift.
The two men didn't have to talk about it very long before the gloves would come off, and perhaps it took even less time to settle the fight itself with a single punch putting an end to this one.
