Detroit’s Simon Edvinsson left reeling as Johnston’s late-game frustration turns violent.
Ross Johnston was looking for a fight at the end of a losing game. When the Anaheim Ducks forward didn’t get what he was looking for he went out of his way to get it done.
The Ducks were losing 6-3 at the hands of the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday night, and in the last seconds of the third period, Johnston expressed his frustration, looking to fight Simon Edvinsson.
When the young defenceman didn’t bite, after some yapping, pushing and shoving, Johnston simply went ahead and sucker punched him straight in the face.
What a cheap shot! Ervinsson’s poor face got completely squashed by Johnston’s surprise fist.
Both players were given 10-minute misconducts and were ejected from the dying seconds of the game, and I have a feeling Johnston could be hearing from the league’s Department of safety later today for his actions.
Both players were left pointless in the Red Wings’ win over the Ducks, however, the altercation has certainly made the highlight reel.
