Round 1 begins in less than an hour!

The Detroit Red Wings kept the streak alive. They made it to the playoffs for an amazing 25th straight season. Now it is time for some revenge.

They start their round one series against the Tampa Bay Lightning tonight. Last season the same teams met in the first round where Tampa won the series in 7 games. It was a crazy series with lots of lead changes and surprises. The series starts in Tampa for games 1 and 2 before coming back to Detroit. Hopefully by then the Wings will have built themselves a nice advantage.

This series will most likely be most of the same except for the Lightning missing their star forward Steven Stamkos. This will also be a very special post season for the Wings since it looks like it will be the last for Pavel Datsyuk who will possibly be heading to Russia next season. That is not the news Detroit wanted heading into the playoffs but their focus will be on getting through round one and then hopefully lifting Lord Stanley's Cup.
