Oh, baby! These deals just keep coming!
In case you missed it... there were trades today.
A lot of them.
I'm not going to recap them all, just know that Patrick Kane is a Ranger, Luke Schenn is a Maple Leaf, Jesse Puljujarvi is a Hurricane, Tyson Barrie is a Predator (er... that sounds bad, but you know what I mean) and Mattias Ekholm is an Oiler.
That about sums it up.
With all of these trades going down today, it makes you wonder what will be left come trade deadline day on Friday?
Jakob Chyrchrun, Vladislav Gavrikov, Brock Boeser and Max Domi are all still out there for interested parties, but at least one of those players might be gone if Los Angeles Kings GM Rob Blake has anything to say about it.
According to a report from TSN insider Darren Dreger, the Kings have turned their focus from Chychrun and the Arizona Coyotes to Gavrikov and the Columbus Blue Jackets. Dreger reports that there are "rumblings" of a potential deal this evening between the Kings and Coyotes concerning Gavrikov and goaltender Joonas Korpisalo.
Check it out:
It's worth noting that the Blue Jackets have pulled Korpisalo from their lineup for "trade related reasons", much like they did with Gavrikov over a week ago now.
Both Gavrikov and Korpisalo would be excellent additions to the Kings' roster as the team has struggled to find stability in goal and on the blueline at different points this season. Now, I'm not saying that these two players would completely revamp the Kings into a Stanley Cup favorite, but they would provide the team with some much needed depth at positions that are very important come playoff time.
Interestingly enough, it was the Kings who were most tightly linked to the Coyotes last week during Chychrun rumors. I have to assume that if Blake pulled the deal on a Gavrikov and Korpisalo trade with the Blue Jackets that any type of deal concerning Chychrun and the Kings would be over and dead. It's also worth noting that both Gavrikov and Korpisalo are pending free agents, while Chychrun is still locked into a long-term deal. Thoughts, Kings fans?
