Rumblings of a major trade between Bruins and Red Wings
This one's a whopper! The latest from NHL insider Elliotte Friedman.
HockeyFeed
According to a report from NHL insider Elliotte Friedman this morning, the Boston Bruins and Detroit Red Wings are working on a deal involving Red Wings forward Tyler Bertuzzi.
From Friedman:
We don't yet have any more details of the trade, but suffice it to say that this has the makings of a blockbuster deal. Sit tight and rest assured that we'll have this article updated with full details the moment that they are available.
UPDATE: TSN's Pierre LeBrun is now reporting that the Red Wings will receive a 1st round pick and a 4th round pick in exchange for Bertuzzi.
It's unclear if this is the final deal just yet, or if there are more pieces.
In any case, the Bruins are getting one Hell of a player in Bertuzzi, regardless of the return. The 28 year old Sudbury, Ont native is in the final year of a contract that pays him $4.75 million per season and is slated to become an unrestricted free agent this upcoming offseason. He has four goals and 14 points in 29 games this season for the Red Wings, but managed a career high 30 goals and 62 points in 68 games just last season. He's a hardworking, nose the the grindstone type player who I personally think will fit in with the Bruins like a hand to a glove.
Stay tuned for more details of the trade, including official confirmation from the teams.
