Rumblings of another major cut to Saturday Night Hockey.

If you're a hockey viewer in Canada it has been a summer of drastic changes to how you consume hockey already, and it would seem even more changes are on the horizon.

On Sunday, reports began to emerge that Hockey Night in Canada panelist Jennifer Botterill would not be returning for the 2026-27 National Hockey League regular season, a move that would end Botterill's tenure on the panel after 6 seasons. Although the report has not as of yet been officially confirmed, there are early indications that Botterill will be out much like her former co-host Kelly Hrudey who officially confirmed he would not return earlier this summer.

Even more shocking however is the fact that the future of both Elliotte Friedman and Kevin Bieksa remain in limbo. With all due respect to both Hrudey and Botterill, both Friedman and Bieksa are much more integral to the broadcast and losing one or either of them would be a terrible decision.

Friedman is arguably the National Hockey League's most recognizable insider and is featured on radio programs across the hockey media landscape, not to mention being the central figure on the ultra-popular 32 Thoughts podcast.

Bieksa on the other hand has transitioned seamlessly from his career as a player in the NHL and is now one of the most respected on-air hockey analysts in the business today.
