The Vancouver Canucks currently find themselves near the bottom of the National Hockey League's Pacific Division and, with the team currently trending out of the playoff picture, trade rumors have now begun to pop up left and right.

Perhaps the biggest rumor of its kind is the talk surrounding former first round pick Lukas Reichel, who now appears to be done in Vancouver. Reichel, originally selected 17th overall by the Chicago Blackhawks in the first round of the 2020 National Hockey League Entry Draft, has failed to deliver on what the Canucks were hoping for when they acquired him in a trade with the Chicago Blackhawks, and he may have finally run out of runway.

Reichel simply hasn't been a fit with just 1 point, an assist, in his first 13 games as a member of the Vancouver Canucks and now Canucks insider Rick Dhaliwal is reporting that the Canucks are looking to move on from what has been a failed experiment.

Reichel is however not the only Canucks forward being discussed in trade rumors around the NHL at this time however, with veteran forward Keifer Sherwood also drawing a lot of attention from around the league. The Canucks aren't actively shopping Sherwood like they are with Reichel, however with Sherwood a pending unrestricted free agent that is having a great season he is very likely to be moved should the Canucks continue to trend outside of the playoff picture.

NHL insider Darren Dreger recently revealed that he believes Sherwood will be moved some time around the trade deadline. From Dreger:

You’re talking about a 30-year-old who’s had a great first quarter; he’s got 12 goals to this point. The problem in Vancouver is the depth they have on the wing. Of course, there’s going to be contract discussions and negotiations, but there’s no guarantee they’re going to extend this guy because of what I just said.

He could become legit trade fodder for the Vancouver Canucks, but that’ll happen closer to the trade deadline.

Sherwood has 12 goals and 4 assists for 16 points in just 22 games this season but more importantly he plays a physical style of game that teams are desperate for when it comes playoff time. I believe the Canucks would have no issues getting a great return for Sherwood if they do indeed pull the trigger on a trade here.

It looks like big changes on the horizon for the Canucks.
