The Boston Bruins and the Vancouver Canucks have been very bitter rivals in the past, but recent rumblings around the National Hockey League indicate that the two teams may be on the verge of striking a deal.

As many of you reading this will already know, Canucks president of hockey operations Jim Rutherford shocked the hockey community this week when he announced that several of his veteran players were available via trade. The move no doubt created a flurry of activity when it comes to trade talk around the Canucks, and the Boston Bruins appear to be one of the teams that is looking to get into the mix.

In a recent report, Bruins reporter Jimmy Murphy confirmed via multiple NHL sources that the Bruins have indeed already made calls to Vancouver.

"They have 100 percent called on both players," said a source as per RG Media. "They want scoring and believe that with some more, this team can definitely stay in the race and make some noise."

That of course raises the questions of what players the Bruins are interested in? According to Murphy both veteran forwards Kiefer Sherwood and Connor Garland top that list.

I personally would love to see Garland in a Bruins uniform as I believe the Bruins fan base would quickly embrace him, much in the way they embraced fromer Bruins captain Brad Marchand. Garland, despite being a smaller player, has built a reputation for himself as a hard nosed player with a knack for getting under the skin of his opponents, much like Marchand did for many years as a member of the Bruins.

Sherwood is of course becoming one of the most talked about players when it comes to trade rumors in and around the NHL, with just about everyone appearing to believe that Sherwood will be traded to a contender at some point this season. Sherwood plays a gritty game and has some scoring finish in his skill set as well, making him exactly the kind of player that contending teams try to acquire for the playoffs.

According to Murphy it might be hard to pry Garland away from the Canucks, with the team still viewing him as a very valuable player for their culture but, if things continue to trend in the wrong direction for the Canucks, all bets will be off.
