Alex Galchenyuk has been at the center of countless trade rumors over the last few days, that sent him in New York with the Rangers. But it seems that Glen Sather, the current president of the Blueshirts, and his team are not only interested in the 23-year-old forward.

According to New York Post's Larry Brooks, not only are they eyeing Galchenyuk, but they are also hoping to trade for Andrew Shaw. Here's what Brooks said:

"Alex Galchenyuk, Montreal’s 23-year-old natural center with top-six potential who was on the fourth line against the Senators just as he was against the Rangers on Saturday, could have been a person of interest to the front-office triumvirate."

"But the Blueshirts also like Montreal’s Andrew Shaw, the abrasive 26-year-old forward who can play both center and wing and who plays an edgy, abrasive game unlike anyone currently on the New York roster."

We know Chris Kreider's name was mentioned in a possible trade for Galchenyuk, but Brooks doesn't say who the Rangers would give in return for Shaw.

Shaw earns $3.9 million per year, which is one million less than his teammate. Since the Rangers only have 2.4 million in cap space, it is fair to believe Shaw's contract would be an important factor.

Marc Bergevin and the Habs acquired Shaw from the Chicago Blackhawks for two second-round picks, back in June 2016. Would you be willing to let him leave for New York in order to keep Galchenyuk?
