According to a report from Sportsnet’s Chris Johnston, the Winnipeg Jets are taking trade offers on third-string goalie Michael Hutchinson. Supplanted by the free-agent signing of Steve Mason and the stellar play of Connor Hellebuyck, Hutchinson and his $1.3 million annual salary has been relegated to the AHL this season.

“We’ve seen a number of goalies injured around the league; some under performance as well,” said Johnston on Saturday. “And the feeling is he is a guy Winnipeg would be willing to move if they find the right fit.”

So, what’s the right fit? Certainly the Jets wouldn’t get much more than a draft pick for the 27-year-old former third round pick? Then again… desperate times call for desperate measures and teams like the Vegas Golden Knights, Boston Bruins, Arizona Coyotes and Florida Panthers. Would one of these teams be willing to offer up a roster player or more in return for Hutchinson? Stay tuned.
