This year's goalie crop is quite amazing. With Vezina nominee Devan Dubnyk who could hit free agency, former Vezina nominee Antti Niemi in the same situation and a big amount of quality starters and on the rise stars available for trades, the market seems over saturated. You can now had Anaheim Ducks starter Frederik Andersen to the list of goalies who could switch jersey in 2015-2016. According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, Anaheim's GM Bob Murray has been getting calls from other general managers around the league about the 25 years old netminder. Anaheim will have a tough decision to make in the near future with it's goalies, both Andersen and 21 years old John Gibson having elite potential. But the poor performance by Andersen in the western conference finals against the Chicago Blackhawks may have shifted the balance. Not only is John Gibson the strongest candidate as Anaheim goalie of the future, Andersen's performance may get him traded sooner rather than later. In any case, Elliotte Friedman reports the price for the Danish goalie will probably be higher than any other available this summer considering the Ducks won't be in a hurry to deal him.
Ducks GM Bob Murray wouldn’t comment, but word is he’s getting other GMs asking if the way the Western Conference final ended changed his long-term feeling about Frederik Andersen. Whatever the case, the cost would be steep, since the Ducks don’t need to address the Andersen/John Gibson contract situation for another year.
