While there's no longer any doubt that Colorado Avalanche general manager Joe Sakic is shopping his captain Gabriel Landeskog, he's reportedly asking for a king's ransom in exchange.
TSN insider Darren Dreger has reportedly been informed by his sources what the Avalanche are currently seeking in return and according to him that's a "top defensemen, first round pick, plus." That could of course explain why no deal has been made thus far as teams are refusing to pay that price.
It's worth noting that Landeskog's value in this trade will be particularly high merely due to the fact that he comes with a huge among of control with his contract running through the 2020-2021 season. That being said there are those who have questioned his roughly $5.6 million dollar price tag and with just 7 goals, 6 assists and a plus minus rating of -10 through 29 games this season he isn't doing anything to help his value.
The Avalanche's asking price is likely to come down once the trade deadline draws near if they are as sincere as it appears they are in their desire to move on from Landeskog whom they picked 2nd overall just 6 years ago.
