Rumor: Blackhawks expected to sign veteran defenseman very soon.
A new defenseman for the Blackhawks?
HockeyFeed
The Chicago Blackhawks are expected to add a veteran defenseman to their roster.
Why they still have not yet made an official decision regarding veteran blue liner Cody Franson, National Hockey League insider Bob McKenzie of TSN is reporting that Franson is expected to sign with Chicago at some point this week.
When Bob McKenzie says something is very likely to happen, you can expect that it will in fact get done, although admittedly McKenzie did state that it's "not 100% certain."
The Blackhawks are also awaiting on rulings from the NHL regarding the players they have placed on long-term injured reserve, rulings that would give them significant cap relief if they were to work out in their favor, as they are expected to.
While this is purely speculative on my part, the Blackhawks may be waiting for that cap relief before making a final decision on the Franson signing.
