Blackhawks Eyeing Elite European Forward Prospect

Who is David Kampf? If the Blackhawks have anything to say about it, he’ll be their newest forward prospect.

The forward from Jirkov, Czech Republic has drawn interest from not only Chicago, but also Colorado and Las Vegas, according to Elliotte Friedman.

Why all the hubbub? Well, Kampf is a 6’2, 185 lbs center with a left-handed shot. He debuted as a professional player in the Czech Republic at the age of 18, and at 21-years-old he’s amassed 25 goals and 22 assists for 47 points in 141 games in the Czech pro league.

When he started out playing for Piráti Chomutov, he was a teenager with loads of talent playing against men with tons of experience. Kampf’s game has been steadily maturing, he posted 15 goals and 31 points in 52 games for Piráti Chomutov this season.

There is absolutely not doubt that Kampf has incredible talent and potential. He’s been able to adjust and eventually excel at each and every tier he’s reached so far in professional hockey. There’s very little doubt that he can be an NHL calibers player.

While  Kampf may have gone undrafted by the NHL, his Unrestricted Free Agent status has potentially given him a plethora of choices from interested NHL teams.

If the rumours are true, he has the choice between being a possible franchise player with the rebuilding Avalanche, or the soon-to-be built Las Vegas team. Or he could be an integral part of the Blackhawks next charge at the Stanley Cup.

The Blackhawks feature a roster replete with young players and opportunity at cracking the NHL lineup, and Kampf surely has what it takes to compete for a roster spot. He is expected to sign, hopefully with Chicago, before the NHL regular season is through.
