Rumor: Canadiens' four best players on the trade block

There's been a LOT of talk surrounding the Montreal Canadiens this season - they've been involved in trade speculation for months, and with the horrid start to their season, it appears the team's ownership wants a major shakeup.

Nick Kypreos appeared on Saturday Headlines, a Hockey Night in Canada segment - and broke the news that there may be a rebuild in Montreal.

Here's the segment in question. The Habs talk starts around 3:55.

The main name that comes up is Max Pacioretty - he is thought to be in a similar situation to that of Phil Kessel's back in his Toronto days, and that a similar trade for the star scorer may be on its way.

Alex Galchenyuk's name has also been in trade talks for months and it's widely believed that, especially if things don't turn around in Montreal, that he will also be traded.

Carey Price's name has also been floating around out there, with controversial statements coming left and right that the organization is lying about his injury and that there's something else going on behind the scenes. His contract would be very hard to trade, but not impossible.

Finally, Shea Weber, the star defenseman acquired in the famous one-for-one swap for P.K. Subban, could also be shopped if Marc Bergevin does indeed decide to rebuild. Lyle Richardson of Spector's Hockey believes that his name will pop up as a trade option - and that despite his contract, there will be no shortage of suitors for his services.

Pacioretty, Galchenyuk, Price, Weber... those are huge names to be landing on the block. With the Habs losing two embarrassing games in a row to the Arizona Coyotes and then to the Toronto Maple Leafs, something has got to give.

Bergevin has never been the type to move a big player for futures like Colorado did with Matt Duchene, but he may finally be heading down this road.

No more excuses.
