Rumor: Canucks giving up on one of their goalies.
The Canucks are looking to make a trade.
The Vancouver Canucks appear to be looking to make a trade, although it seems they may be having a difficult time finding a dance partner.
That trade would involve 23 year old goaltender Michael DiPietro, who appears to have fallen out of favor with the organization. DiPietro was drafted by the Canucks in the third round (64th overall) of the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, but has largely failed to establish himself as a part of their roster since being selected.
According to a report from Canucks insider Rick Dhaliwal, the Canucks have recently given player agent Darren Ferris, who represents DiPietro, permission to speak with opposing teams in the hopes of helping facilitate a trade for his client.
DiPietro appeared in only a single game for the Canucks last season and, like his 2 previous outings in the NHL, the young goaltender did not fare particularly well. DiPietro had a 3.14 goals against average and a .824 save percentage during his one game and the Canucks opted not to use him again. Down at the American Hockey League level DiPietro was also less than stellar with a 2.95 goals against average and a .901 save percentage.
If the Canucks do manage to work out a trade here, I expect they will get a minimal return.
