What do you think of this offer, Wild fans?
Minnesota Wild forward Marco Rossi has been mentioned in trade rumors for months now with the Vancouver Canucks factoring heavily into the rumors.
Rossi is a pending restricted free agent and is reportedly seeking a hefty pay raise that Wild GM Bill Guerin doesn't seem interested in negotiating. Guerin has made it clear to teams though that he won't give away Rossi for free and that he'd prefer to ship him out in a trade that makes his team better.
With that in mind, kinda, the Canucks have reportedly put forward their best offer. While they haven't offered up a player who can help the Wild immediately, there are reports that the Canucks have offered up their 15th overall pick in exchange for Rossi.
From Patrick Johnson of The Province (Postmedia):
As first reported by The Athletic’s Mike Russo, Postmedia has confirmed the Canucks have tried to pry the young centre away from the Wild in a trade, offering up their 15th overall draft pick in next week’s NHL Entry Draft, plus a player. Whether that player is on the NHL roster or a prospect isn’t currently known. Russo’s reporting suggests that Wild GM Bill Guerin is after an NHL roster player, rather than a prospect.
As Johnson reports, it's not known who the player that the Canucks have offered up is, but the Canucks don't have a ton of players that they can afford to lose. It'll be interesting to see if this deal gains any traction as we draw closer to the Draft.
