The Pittsburgh Penguins lost forward Nick Bonino in the offseason, as he signed a contract with the Nashville Predators once he became a free agent. Ever since, the defending champions have been looking to fill the hole he left at the center of the third line, with many experts wondering how the Pens will overcome the loss.
On the first day of training camp on Friday, Pens GM Jim Rutherford commented his search for a third centerman, and he hints at productive developments.
Without revealing who the Penguins had their eye on, Rutherford mentioned that three players were interesting fits and that the team will wait for when one of them can become available to complete a transaction that could boost the roster.
