Some very disturbing rumors floating around the Penguins captain.

There is rampant speculation surrounding the nature of Sidney Crosby's injury and perhaps more importantly, the legitimacy of the claims being made by both the player and his team the Pittsburgh Penguins.

There are now rumors that the injury did not occur during a Friday practice at all, but rather that the initial concussion was suffered during the World Cup of Hockey, a tournament Crosby played in through the final and a tournament he would eventually win. It's worth noting that no one has had the courage to put their names to these rumors, but there's no denying they are out there and they have been very, very loud.

As stated no one has gone on the record, but despite that Crosby felt the speculation was serious enough that it warranted addressing.

“It happened Friday in practice. I think the team stated it happened Friday in practice so I don’t know why there would be speculation about it happening in the World Cup,” Crosby said as per NBC's Mike Halford. “How many people were here at practice on Friday? It happened. I’m not making this up.”

Crosby was back on the ice at practice today, which makes for a rather miraculous recovery from a concussion suffered Friday and diagnosed several days later. This is of course is proof of nothing on it's own, but it's one more piece in what is turning into a very curious puzzle.
