Rumor: Duchene trade talks heating up
As many as 8 teams are in the mix, but one is a clear front runner.

Last evening on TSN’s Insider Trading segment, hockey analyst and NHL insider Darren Dreger shared the details of Colorado Avalanche general manager Joe Sakic’s ongoing trade negotiations with star forward Matt Duchene.
So, what’s the latest? “Many teams are interest and many teams are talking to Joe Sakic and the Colorado Avalanche, up to as many as eight teams over the last stretch of days I would say,” said Dreger. “But, the reality is none of these team’s thing they’re getting him.” That isn’t to say that teams aren’t trying though, says Dreger. “If you look at the Ottawa Senators, Pierre Dorion has been among the more aggressive… but I’m pretty sure that Ottawa doesn’t think they’re getting Matt Duchene and the same applies to Montreal, Calgary, Vancouver, the Los Angeles Kings, the Nashville Predators and the Columbus Blue Jackets.”
So, are trade talks heating up or cooling down? It’s hard to know with Joe Sakic. The former superstar player isn’t winning over many fans with his odd decision, or non-decisions, during this whole Duchene saga. One thing’s clear however: the Avs remain committed to moving Duchene IF the right offer presents itself. We’ll all just have to wait until that offer materializes.
