The Anaheim Ducks had one hell of a run reaching the Western Conference Final before eventually falling to the Nashville Predators in six games, but that may not have been good enough given the organizations expectations.

While there has not yet been anything on the rumor mill considering the loss is just hours old at this point, ESPN insider Craig Custance has suggested that the Ducks top priority should be an absolutely blockbuster trade deal involving none other than Corey Perry, something that Custance admits would be "going nuclear."

From Custance:

Winger Corey Perry had a down season; he had four goals in the playoffs, and he’s 31 years old. He also has four more years on a contract that averages $8.625 million per season. The Ducks can’t have three aging forwards occupying so much of their cap space, and if they wait any longer it could be impossible to move them.

This isn’t an easy deal because he has a no-movement clause and a healthy salary, but he’s also Corey Perry. He plays with an edge. He has a Stanley Cup and gold medals....

Perry has built a reputation as one of the most reviled players in the National Hockey League and, while there are a ton of fans who hate the man, there are a huge number of people who would love a player with his type of grit on their roster, especially if the Ducks retained salary to trade him at a discount.

Custance hasn't hinted at where he believes Perry could be moved, but this is certainly one deal worth keeping an eye on.
