Rumor: Ducks “urgently” trying to make a deal

According to a report from TSN analyst and NHL insider Pierre LeBrun, the Anaheim Ducks are scouring the trade market in search of some scoring.

With top-end forwards Ryan Getzlaf and Ryan Kesler out long-term with injuries, the team needs help right away. A top-six winger or center is at the top of their wish list, but can GM Bob Murray make a deal?

Top-six forwards don’t exactly grow on trees, so if Murray plans on making a deal he’ll need to offer up a pretty package. The real question is, who’s out there on the trade market? Buffalo Sabres’ winger Evander Kane seems like a perfect fit in Anaheim. Or how about New York Rangers star Rick Nash? Both players play a big, physical game that would fit in naturally with the Ducks system.

If Murray is adamant on getting a center, how about St. Louis Blue pivot Paul Stastny? Or, he could make an offer on the biggest trade chip of all, New York Islander superstar John Tavares

It remains to be seen what Murray’s options are and which way he decides to go, but you can bet that the Ducks will be a team to watch at this year’s trade deadline.
