Rumor: Dumba available on the trading block!

During the offseason, the Minnesota Wild tried to land Jonathan Drouin. who ended up getting trading from the Tampa Bay Lightning to the Montreal Canadiens instead. However, the Wild was so sure to get things done; it was even revealed who ended being part of the deal.

Defenseman Matt Dumba was said to be part of the package that would have gotten Minnesota to land a top-six forward. With the current season underway, fans have noticed that Dumba was must trusted by the team, which seems to have change now that the 2017-18 calendar has started. Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reminded us that the 23-year-old has been dropped on the third pair by coach Bruce Boudeau, moving him with Kyle Quincey and Gustav Olofsson alongside Jonas Brodin.

"Last year, he was third on the team in even-strength ice time, behind only Ryan Suter and Jared Spurgeon," Friedman added. "Something to watch."

If Dumba gets back on track, he could end up back on the trading block. Though the Wild is expected to wait and see, it still has to manage star forward Zach Parise's absence, as he underwent back surgery yesterday that will keep him out of action for two months.

A solution could be available on the market and Dumba might be the needed trade bait to land it.

Dumba was selected in the first round by Minnesota back in 2012. He has recorded two assists in seven games so far this season.

The Washington CapitalsEdmonton Oilers, Toronto Maple Leafs and Buffalo Sabres are said to be in the market to add depth of their blue line.
