Rumor:Former first overall draft pick back on the trading block.

When there is this much smoke you should be looking for the fire.

The Montreal Canadiens made a blockbuster trade this summer when they traded away one of their young defensemen in P.K. Subban and it really sounds like they are trying to make another deal to ship out another one of their young blue liners.

First we had rumors involving a possible trade between the Canadiens and the Dallas Stars with speculation that Canadiens defenseman Alexei Emelin would be headed to Dallas with forward Valeri Nichuskin coming back the other way, although presumably there would be other pieces involved in this deal.

Now we have a report from Eklund of the Hockey Buzz linking the Montreal Canadiens and defenseman Alexei Emelin to another trade. According to Eklund the Canadiens are currently in intense negotiations with the Edmonton Oilers in an attempt to bring in Nail Yakupov, perhaps with the intention of reuniting him with Alex Galchenyuk who has achieved great success in Montreal.
