He was the starter just last season.
It's starting to look a lot like there may be a bit of an upset brewing in the preseason.
While it's highly unlikely that Edmonton Oilers fans will shed a tear if Ben Scrivens is indeed traded or waived by the team, it still comes as somewhat of a surprise to many.
Perhaps an even bigger surprise has been the cause of all the potential waiver talk surrounding scrivers, 25 year old goaltender Anders Nilsson, who has stopped every single one of the 53 shots he has faced thus far in the preseason.
More and more pundits are beginning to speculate on the fate of Scrivens, and it seems more and more likely that his time in Edmonton is all but at an end.\
While fans may be quick to dismiss Scrivens do to his performance in Edmonton, he did show considerable promise during his time in the AHL with the Toronto Marlies, and is only two seasons removed from a brilliant, albeit short stint as a member of the Los Angeles Kings.
It's hard to place all the blame on the goaltending in Edmonton, and likely more than one general manager will take a look at Scrivens.

Don't know how you cut a goalie who stops 53 of 53 shots in preseason. Scrivens headed for waivers? Seems inevitable...
