GM publicly insulted SUPERSTAR player and lowered contract extension rumor

The Montreal Canadiens signed forward Alexander Radulov out of the Kontinental Hockey League to add a little more dynamic offense to their line up, and he has proven very capable of doing that thus far.

Even with Alexander Radulov in the lineup, the Montreal Canadiens showed lack of offense during the whole season so how could they possibly pass on re-signing him for next year?

Earlier this year, TSN 690’s Tony Marinaro, a very well-connected Habs insider, reported that Montreal Canadiens forward Alexander Radulov has made some monster contract demands. According to Marinaro, Radulov’s agent, Maxim Moliver, made an official request to the Habs for an 8-year deal.

Ask to comment on the current situation on 91,9 Sports Radio Montreal, Montreal Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin seemed to have publicly insulted his superstar by saying:

We won games without him, He's no Sidney Crosby.”

He later on added: "The whole team is not built around him.”

Did Marc Bergevin lower the contract extension rumors by acting so?
