Rumor: Habs renew interest in Duchene, offer up young, skilled sniper

According to a report from Boston based hockey blogger Jimmy Murphy, the Montreal Canadiens have jumped back in on Matt Duchene negotiations with the Colorado Avalanche. While the Habs have been rumored to be interested in Duchene’s services for awhile, nothing they’ve thrown toward Avs GM Joe Sakic thus far has been enough to get a deal done. Now, however, Murphy is reporting that the team has upped its offer.

Wow… this has all the makings of a Marc Bergevin blockbuster. But, might it come back to haunt the Canadiens? After all Alex Galchenyuk did managed to outscore Duchene just last season and looks poised to do even bigger things in his NHL career. This could get interesting. Sit tight, hockey fans.
