Dallas could regret that move
The Stars, you may remember, currently hold the 3rd overall pick in this summer’s NHL Entry Draft, but general Jim Nil has expressed interest in moving the pick if he can acquire a top flight NHL defenseman in return.
One reason why he’s open to make such a move is simple. It’s clear that Nolan Patrick and Nico Hischier will be selected with the first two picks but it’s quite unclear and wide open after those two amazing players.
“Probably a group of another 10 players, and that’s when it comes down to team personal preference,” Nill said. “Are you looking for a big strong centerman? Are you looking for a scoring winger? Are you looking for a power forward? There are lots of different options there.”
That being said, TSN insider Pierre LeBrun added earlier on Thursday he heard the Dallas Stars are definitely listening on the No. 3 overall pick. Handful of teams have inquired already. Among them, insider Elliotte Friedman believes the Anaheim Ducks have inquired.
These new details are adding more fuel to the already raging fire around the Dallas Stars and the trade rumor.
