Rumor: Insiders believe defenseman could decides/signs this weekend with the Hawks!

Three teams are in the mix to acquire top-scoring defenseman.

Jan Rutta, one of the top-scoring defenseman in the Czech Extraliga, is apparently generating interest from several NHL clubs, according to a report from NHL player agent Allan Walsh.

The 26 year-old Rutta is an undrafted, offensive defenseman with considerable size and playmaking ability. The 6’2,” 211 lb blue liner put up eight goals and 32 points in 46 games with Chomutov Pirati of the Czech league in 2016-17. In the playoffs, however, Rutta really turned heads with 13 points in 17 games.

“He’s a steady defenseman with size, and he had strong finish of the season,” one NHL scout said to Scott Powers from the Athletic. “He was very good in the playoffs and played his best at the Worlds.”

Andy Strickland reported earlier on Saturday he’s Hearing Czech Dman Jan Rutta is strongly leaning towards signing with the Chicago Blackhawks. TSN insider Pierre LeBrun added he could decide/sign this weekend.
