For the first time since 2007, the New York Islanders don't have a pick in the top 15 of this year's draft. The Isles' actually don't have a pick until the pick 72, an unusual position for GM Garth Snow.
The former goaltender will still be looking to make a splash at the draft, as Arthur Staple from Newsday reports one of the Islanders top player is now on the market.
Kyle Okposo, who had the best back to back seasons of his career, could be playing somewhere else in 2015-16. The 27 years old recorded 120 points over the past two seasons, numbers that will get him a big raise from his 2,8M $ salary when he becomes a free agent next summer.

Snow doesn't appear to be interested in such a high salary for the winger. Okposo has had health problems over the course of his career, playing over 70 games only three times over the course of seven seasons.
Still, Okposo has proved over the course of the last two seasons that he can be a top line forward and has developed great chemistry with superstar John Tavares. The Islanders made the playoffs for only the second time over the last 8 seasons in 2015 and appear to be on the rise with a core group of young rising stars. Trading Okposo at this point would appear to be a step back for the franchise.
