The Winnipeg Jets are looking to add a goaltender, although fans in Winnipeg may not exactly be thrilled with who they are targeting.

A report from Ken Wiebe of the Winnipeg sun has reveal that the Jets have touched based with the representatives for goaltender Steve Mason, most recently of the Philadelphia Flyers.

Mason would provide the Jets with a veteran goaltender to help mentor Connor Hellebuyck whom the Jets presumably still view as their goaltender of the future, at least for the time being.

However Mason is coming off a tough season with the Flyers, one that saw him miss time due to injury, and one that saw him keep the starting job largely due to the fact that Michal Neuvirth has a very poor season.

Over his 58 games in Philly Mason put up a 2.26 goals against average and a .908 save percentage. Respectable numbers to be sure, but not numbers that will put you in the conversation with the NHL's elite goaltenders.
