Rumor: Kings place top D-man on trading block

The three-way Matt Duchene / Kyle Turris trade this past weekend between the Colorado Avalanche, Nashville Predators and Ottawa Senators has turned the NHL trade market upside down. Thankfully TSN analyst Frank Seravalli has inside knowledge of the trade landscape and has compiled his list of the NHL’s Top 10 Trade Bait.

Several NHL teams have been looking for help on the back end, and the Los Angeles Kings might have a piece available for them. Defenseman Alec Martinez is said to be on the trading block and could be moved so the Kings can bring in more scoring to their lineup. 

With the recent loss of center Jeff Carter to a leg injury, the Kings scoring could drop off some more and management could be forced to shop Martinez. 

He is a good, mobile defenseman who would be an asset to any team looking to bolster their blue line.

In 12 games with Los Angeles this season, Martinez has amassed two goals and four points, recording a +4 plus/minus rating.
