Rumor: Leafs have received trade call for three of their forwards.

The Toronto Maple Leafs may be in striking distance of the playoffs but that doesn't mean management has given up on their plan of a long-term rebuild.

The Leafs have reportedly been receiving interest on the trade market according to a report from the Fourth Period, and that interest is focused on three members of their core group of forwards. The team has taken calls regarding the availability of Tyler Bozak, James van Riemsdyk and Nazem Kadri and it sounds like general manager Lou Lamoriello is at least listening.

From the Fourth Period:

Lamoriello is not unwilling to make makes involving Bozak or van Riemsdyk, but he's not in a rush to pull the trigger, either.

Bozak and van Riemsdyk both have one-year left on their respective contracts and can become unrestricted free agents on July 1, 2018 if they do not sign a contract extension before that date.

van Riemsdyk has much greater value than Bozak, but Toronto's depth up the middle could make it easier to move Bozak, who is three-years older than JVR.

If the rumor mill is any indication, the Leafs have been looking to strengthen their group on the blue line for some time now, although no trades have materialized as of yet. If the Leafs see an opportunity young quality defenseman in a deal involving any of the three aforementioned players you can bet Lamoriello will at least do his due diligence.
