Rumor: Leafs insider reveals shocking inside info on Lupul situation
If this is true, things could get very interesting!

In his latest article for the Toronto Sun, longtime Toronto Maple Leafs columnist Steve Simmons analyzes the ongoing saga between the team and injured forward Joffrey Lupul. For those not up to date with the soap opera details, here it is in a nut shell:
1. Lupul failed his physical examination.
2. Lupul called the results bogus and said the Leafs “cheat”.
3. The Leafs said nothing.
4. Fans went crazy.
Well, now Simmons is adding another intriguing element to this story. According to him, the Leafs could drop a bomb regarding Lupul and his health that would upset this entire situation.
Check it out:
Word around for some time has been that there is more to this story, that the Leafs have something on the veteran winger. Something damaging they just might release should Lupul become an annoyance to them. Either he was reminded of that on Sunday or an agent reminded him or maybe he just had the sense himself to take the post down.
Interesting. So, just what could this “damaging” information be? As Simmons points out, Lupul really has no leverage in his situation. The team could buy him out, but then he’d only earn two-thirds of his total salary. He could force the team to play him, but they’d likely just bury him in the AHL with the Toronto Marlies. So, what’s his alternative? Keep his mouth shut and cash his paycheque.
