The Toronto Maple Leafs handed off the Los Angeles Kings their first regulation loss last night, but LA star player Drew Doughty still stated that the Leafs won't be a true Stanley Cup contender until they fix their blueline.

According to the TSN hockey insiders panel, Toronto should indeed look to move one of their forward to bolster up the back end to have a real shot at the Cup. Both Dave Poulin and Jeff O'Neil remind us that forward James van Riemsdyk is expected to hit the free agency this summer, and could be a trade chip to acquire a rental defenseman.

"They have tons of forwards and kids in the minor that can come up and play, so move somebody," says O'Neil.

Referring to the kids doing better in the bottom lines, Poulin thinks one of them will push a veteran out, who will hence become the trade bait for a potential transaction.

However, NHL insider Bob Mckenzie believes it won't be that easy to accomplish in time for the Trade Deadline.

"JVR is basically a rental player because he is on an expiring contract, can you go out and get a top-pairing or.a top-3, top-4 defenseman who is also on an expiring contract and trade them one for one? I mean if you can great, but I mean I just don't see it..."

What do you think? Which player should the Leafs use as trade bait to boost up the blueline?
