The Arizona Coyotes hold the number three pick in the 2015 NHL draft and may very well ship it. According to Sportsnet, Coyotes general manager Don Maloney has two very serious offers on the table for the prized pick. With future superstars Connor McDavid and Jack Eichel locked as picks number one and two, defenseman Noah Hanifin is the favorite to come next. Prospects like forwards Dylan Strome and Mitch Marner could also mix things up. According to Sportsnet, the Coyotes' GM still has no idea what he will do with the pic. It could very well go down to the wire.
There’s been so many different things kind of pushed my way of late I can honestly sit here and say I don’t know (what I’ll do),” he told Sportsnet on Tuesday. “There’s one team really aggressively trying to get No. 3, and we’d trade down a bit. “I’ve had two offers outright for that pick.” “I think generally you get your best offer on the draft floor,” said Maloney. “That’s what I’ve found. Unless somebody really blows us over and needs an answer I think that’s generally how these things work.”
Maloney has a lot of work on his table in the coming weeks. His team is currently more than $18M dollars short of the salary cap floor. The GM is expected to add some experience to his squad in order reach it in time for the season.
