Rumor: Marc Bergevin on the verge of getting fired?

It isn't looking good for him.

The Montreal Canadiens are off to their worst start since the 1941-42 season, with only one win in just eight games. It is needless to say these awful performances are extremely disappointing for the fans, who want general manager Marc Bergevin to get fired. This feeling was exacerbated after yesterday's 6-2 loss against the Anaheim Ducks.

Usually, people would blame the coach when their favorite team is vastly under-performing. However, Claude Julien signed a hefty and lengthy deal, which means he is going nowhere for now. Also, we have to admit that it is extremely rare for GMs to lose their jobs in the middle of the season.

But as RDS' journalist Francois Gagnon said, there are a few candidates that would be fit to replace Bergevin:

"If Geoff Molson ever decides to fire Marc Bergevin, for me there is only one viable candidate and that's Julien Brisebois. I would even go for Brisebois before Patrick Roy."

Wow. Huge statement. Brisebois is currently Steve Yzerman's assistant GM with the Tampa Bay Lightning. Before accepting this job, he spent nine seasons with the Habs as director of legal affairs, VP of hockey operations as well as GM of their AHL affiliate, the Hamilton Bulldogs.

Do you think Bergevin is going to be the next general manager to get fired?
