The list of restricted free agents in the National Hockey League that remain unsigned has shrunk to just 10 and by the sound of things it may very well be that it will grow even shorter before the day is done.

A report from NHL insider Elliotte Friedman has revealed that Los Angeles Kings defenseman Michael Anderson is reportedly close to signing a one year contract with the Kings. According to Friedman the two sides are "getting close" although when the deal might officially be announced is as of yet unknown.

Anderson has spent the last 3 seasons playing within the Kings organization after playing 2 years for the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Anderson spent the majority of his first season under the Kings' umbrella playing with the Ontario Reign of the American Hockey League, but has since become a regular fixture of the Kings' blue line over the course of his past two seasons in the NHL.

In his most recent season, Anderson made 57 appearances for the Kings. He scored 2 goals while adding 6 assists, finishing the season with a total of 8 points, 8 penalty minutes, and a plus minus rating of +6. Anderson also appeared in all 7 playoff games for the Kings this season prior to their first round exit at the hands of the Edmonton Oilers.

Update: The Kings have officially confirmed the news, one year deal ay an average annual value and salary cap hit of $1 million.
