Rumor: Nashville closing in on deal with breakout star
KEYSTONE PRESS

Nashville is reportedly close to locking up one of their most exciting prospects to an incredibly affordable long-term contract.

EDIT: The deal is now officially done:

Arvidsson is coming off his entry level contract, and a sophomore season that saw him score 31 goals and 61 points in 80 games.

The 24-year-old Swedish phenom fits the mold of the undersized scoring winger with the potential to be the next Patrick Kane (in terms of scoring talent, not off-ice activities).

The 5'9 right-shooting winger has good speed, amazing creativity, and a great shot. If Predators general manager David Poile can get him signed for such a long term at such a low rate, Nashville could be sitting on one of the best contracts in the league as the years roll on.

Arvidsson was a star playing in Sweden before Nashville picked him 112th overall in the fourth round of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. He bounced between the Predators and their AHL affiliate in Milwaukee before securing his spot in Nashville this past season.

From the sounds of things, Arvidsson will be a mainstay in Nashville for a long time to come.
