It appears that one National Hockey League general manager isn't particularly confident when it comes to his backup goaltenders, and frankly we can't blame him.

For a very long time Tuukka Rask has been synonymous with the Boston Bruins organization, and throughout that time he has been a workhouse for that organization. However there have been rumors circulating that suggest the Bruins feel they need to diminish the workload of Rask how has played over 60 games in each of his last three seasons, including a huge 70 game season in 2014-2015.

That workload has largely been a result of the inconsistent backup goaltending the Bruins have received from players like Anton Khudobin and draft bust Malcolm Subban, and now general manager Don Sweeney is rumored to be looking for another option.

Bruins analyst Jimmy Murphy is reporting that a source within the Bruins organization has informed him that while Khudobin is slated to enter training camp as Rask's backup, Sweeney is "still looking for a better option."

Murphy also reports that should Sweeney fail to find a replacement backup goaltender, 24-year-old Zane McIntyre will be given a chance to take the job from Khudobin in training camp, this despite his frankly terrible performance in 8 games with the Bruins last season.

Given just how shaky that backups have been in Boston, don't be shocked if Sweeney does pull the trigger before the regular season.
