There is a very shady situation in Russia, and it appears to have cost one National Hockey League team a very talented young player.
The Kontinental Hockey League has announced that 20-year-old forward Kirill Kaprizov has signed with CSKA Moscow for the next three years although there are now a ton of questions about exactly what happened.
That's because this deal had previously been reported, but that was quickly followed by a denial from Kaprizov himself who at the time added that North America, specifically with the Minnesota Wild, remained an option.
The KHL has been under some turmoil as of late with players not getting paid as well as rumors of heavy involvement from the Russian government and those close to president Vladimir Putin, and this only adds to the unease some have with that league.
Wild insider Mike Russo also touched on the strangeness of the situation, only adding more fuel to this fire.
