It looks like the Edmonton Oilers are looking to improve on the blue line and it looks like they plan on doing it through a trade.
Edmonton Oilers insider Jim Matheson is reporting that the Oilers are currently looking at the Las Vegas Golden Knights as a potential trade target, specifically at defensemen Jon Merrill and Jason Garrison.
Matheson reports that the Oilers are looking to fill the gap left by the injury to Andrej Sekera and it's been no secret that the Golden Knights are actively looking to trade some of the defensemen they hoarded at the expansion draft.
The Oilers insider believes the Oilers could get Merrill for relatively cheap, however he believes that while Garrison would come at a bigger cost, he would be a better option than Merrill for the power-play.
No word from Matheson on what the Golden Knights are asking for in exchange for either man.
